Public Transport to Apo Island

FROM DUMAGUETE CITY (Via Malatapay Port)

Step 1: Go to the Dumaguete City Public Market or Ceres Terminal
You can take a jeepney, bus, or V-hire bound for Zamboanguita.
Signboards to look for: “Zamboanguita,” “Bayawan,” “Siaton,” or “Basay” (ask if they pass Malatapay Market)
Mode: Jeepney or bus
Travel Time: 45 minutes to 1 hour

Step 2: Tell the Driver to Drop You at Malatapay Market
This is the jump-off point to Apo Island.
The Malatapay Market is well-known and a common drop-off for divers and tourists.
You will see the Malatapay Wharf signboard from the highway.

Step 3: Walk to Malatapay Wharf
From the main road, walk around 5–10 minutes to reach the Malatapay Wharf.
If you have luggage or gear, porters may assist you for a tip.

Step 4: Ride a Public or Chartered Boat to Apo Island
There are two types of boat transport:
Public Boat (shared with locals/tourists)
Schedule: Leaves around 9:00 AM or earlier if full

Boats usually return from Apo Island around 3:00 PM

Step 2: Arrive at Dumaguete Ceres Terminal
